Well, talk to him... he could have just been blabbing to his friends to impress them about being a player or something... Tell him you heard what he said and that you want to clarify where you are in your relationship... what he said is disrespectful to you...
I wouldn't just break up with him without talking about it first.

I believe you should be a bit wise and don’t react quickly, first it depends on how long you’ve been with each other, second to whom he was talking to!! Coz sometimes guys don’t like to admit to each other about the feelings for girls they are dating and it might mean exactly the opposite!! Finally you should know if he likes you or not from the way he treats you… So be honest with him, tell him what you heard and let him know that you are concerned about his behaviour.

Wow, that's gotta hurt! If he doesn't know whether or not he likes you, why waste your time? Give him his walking papers and be on your merry way...many more fish in the sea!
