WTH? i think *maximum* people couldn't factor France out on a Globe in case you requested them under no circumstances ideas ever having even heard of the French overseas Legion. of people which have heard of the Legion they in all likelihood have alot of appreciate for it (i.e. Camerone, etc). the only adverse i have heard became area of the Legion going alongside with Vichy and them accepting German squaddies precise after WWII (yet why no longer?)

In that case, the recruit would have to fight for France. That is the oath he has taken.
By the way, the French Foreign Legion was never disbanded. See its homepage: http://www.legion-recrute.com

The whole reason that the foriegners are in the French foriegn legion was they were fleeing their country (often times because of a criminal matter) abd the guys want to become French.

It is possible, but the FFL as they did in Indochina, (that later became Viet Nam for us) after WWII the Germans that joined where sent to Indochina out of site out of mind. It was more of a problem in North Africa when we fought the Vichy French before engaging the Germans. It can happen, but they claim, well who cares there French why do they do anything.

By joining the Legion, you relinquish your past...that includes your citizenship and identity if you wish. Your new found allegiance will be to the Legion itself.
