No, not within the U.S. You can go wherever you want.

Unless, of course, you have no other form of ID.

As long as you are a US citizen flying between any US state you do not need a passport. Hawaii and Alaska are US states, therefore, you don't need a passport to fly to there.

You will need to show a picture ID, most commonly a driver's license or state ID card, both at the ticket counter and at the security check point.

If you are a U.S. citizen, you do not need a passport to fly state to state.

If you are a Naturalized citizen or are visiting on a visa, you may need some type of passport.

It's best to check with the airlines before flying or booking your flight.

No, you don't. You will only need a passport in case you leave the country, because you need to show it when you come back to the U.S.A., at time of customs.

The only time you will require a passport is if you plan on leaving the continental U.S. That means the 48 original states. You would need one to fly to Alaska and Hawaii. You would also need one if you were going to any Carribean island that is a U.S. Commonwealth such as Puerto Rico. However, it wouldn't hurt to have one on hand as you would need one to go to either of our neighbors to the north or south of the U.S., Mexico or Canada.
