My boss grabs his dogs balls in order to make him move far enough into the back of his Volvo XC90 so to make room to close the back.

Well, it is an effective way to get the critter's attention. It's a little weird, but if he's not causing pain it isn't really abuse. Dogs do not have the same psychological hangups about their joy toys that people do - though they may be just as protective of them. Most people would grab the collar or harness - maybe he has some reason for not doing so. Then again, the guy drives a Volvo and seems to have a dog too stupid to duck by itself, so he may have more problems than you know.

Absolutely report this abuse to the proper authorities and don't be afraid to testify about it. Once the man has some sort of record of this sick behavior, it will be easier to put him away as his behavior degenerates further. It is also a chance for the dog to be placed in a safe & loving home.

ha, i am not sure what is flavored tennis balls, but i found it incredible (and funny) that pet shop can actually get away with charging an individual tennis ball for as much as $3?! my golden loves tennis ball, and luckily i play tennis, so there's endless supply of balls for him. my friend who has a miniature yorkie (yes, miniature!), she can not catch a regular size tennis ball so her mom has to buy a small one from pet shop, but that's about the only reason you get a tennis ball from a pet shop.

Your boss sounds wierd! He could just as easily put pressure on the dog's body of push him back to where he wants him.
Maybe the next time he needs to move, you should grab his balls & see how he likes it...
