It's a superstition, to chase away bad spirits that you might ingest.

Because Americans worship God because Christians believe that God is the highest power.
With that being said, America goes by the Christian calendar. I think it is all very hypocritical and it's also insensitive to people who don't practice the same religious belifs. People are so self centered today that they think everyone is like them.

Those who say that mean it. Nothing is hypocritical about loving God and asking Him to bless others. Why not start saying "thank you".

Its a a good wish for you, for you to be blessed. Americans are like that. But, sometimes, when a salesman or a panhandler "God blesses" me too many times, I put my hand on my wallet.

Not really. Americans are more religious than their European cousins. (And, besides, being a hypocrite isn't the same as being wrong.)

Some say it out of habit with no thought of what they are saying and some say it because they really mean it. If it bothers you then let it go in one ear and out the other.

I hear it said when someone sneezes....but I don't hear people just randomly saying "God Bless You".

Maybe you're in Church when you're hearing this....

Well they say it because it is a country with 'in god we trust' on their currency, and simply because they are thankful for god giving them what they have, and good friends.

So what. What's wrong with that? Would you feel better if Americans said F*U*C*K* Y*O*U Boy.
...God Bless You
