You COULD have an abcess that coincidentally showed up after eating popcorn. In that case, you'll have to get antibiotics, then possibly a root canal.

On the other hand, if you have a bit of the popcorn husk stuck under the gumline, it could be irritating the ---- out of it. That happened to me once and I thought I had an infection, but once I got the piece of popcorn out, I was fine and haven't had a problem since. Try a "sulcabrush" - it's a thin, single tuft brush designed to clean around the gumline - and flushing it with warm (almost hot) salt water to try to draw it out. If that doesn't work, go to the dentist. They can pick it out in a few seconds with their explorer. Either way, they'll be able to tell what's going on.

You just may have damaged it from the popcorn - the gums are very sensitive But, it could also be a sign of an abscess. If it hasn't gone away in a day or so then you should see a dentist.

u probably got a hull in the root of the tooth, take motrin and put a teabag on it. Get u some enchinachea, u may have to gargle with a shot of whiskey to get rid of this kind of pain.
