The most important fortune or gift of a human being is his genetic endowment. Unfortunately this endowment is slowly deteriorating due to accumulated mutations and consequent genetic load. In the absence of evolutionary forces (differential fertility and differential survival) the deterioration of the human species will continue. Our rescue lies in genetic engineering or eugenic mode of reproduction.

I think that humans have achieved this level of civilization before and bombed each other out to the point that the survivors had to live in caves . . . we make each other angry, incensed with crowded living conditions, repression, pollution and other problems.
We'll either extinct ourselves this time (certainly not the end of the world, just the end of homo sapiens) or drive the few survivors back into caves for the next round .

America and western culture embraces technology and scientific advancement.
And that is the only thing that will save humans from extinction if the moon crashes into the earth, an asteroid hits the earth, or other events of catastrophic proportions happen.

the human race is designed to undergo any circumstances . it will survive all odds and will learn from the outcome of the hardships it suffered.
