For a little while, my right side of my jaw as been cracking. I've gone to the doctor, but they didn't help. I went to the dentist but they told me to stop cracking it. It's something I do on my own but often I don't notice I'm doing it until it starts to hurt. I mostly do it when I'm bored or even stressed at work.
I'm pretty sure I don't grind my teeth in my sleep, cuz my teeth don't hurt and are in good shape. I've thought about a type of mouth gaurd but I'm not sure if this will work.
Any advice would helpful.

This sounds like classic TMJ (temporomandibular) pain. It is a pain associated with the joint where the lower jaw meets the skull. Go to another dentist. If the first one didn't pick up on the possibility of TMJ then he/ she wasn't listening. There are treatments for the pain but if left untreated it can lead to deterioration of the joint. There are many web sites dedicated to TMJ. Just search it on yahoo.

If your jaw clicks and you are getting headaches, It could be TMJ(tempromandibular joint.) I've had this for years , but have learned how to manage it. Stress tends to bring it on, even stress that you may not consciensly be aware of. I wear a nightguard at night to prevent clenching. Check to see if your teeth may be worn or rounded off to detect clenching that you may not realize. It can cause neckaches as well and the degree of severity varies from person to person. The pain is often worse in the morning when you wake up. A contoured pillow helps. I'll be glad to give you more info. and possible solutions if TMJ is the culprit. It took several dentists and many misdiagonis for me before I realize what was causing all my jaw pain. Good Luck.

Your jaw may be sore from the sore in your mouth. The swelling and inflamation can definitely cuse pain throughout the face. I'm not sure what illness you have, probably viral. But, for the sore...Swish with listerne. It hurts, but WORKS. Seriously, swish like 20 times a day. It will make the pain, swelling, and infection go down. The more you swish (and longer you swish) the faster it will go away!

Try to stop snapping it and in about 2 years you won't even be able to snap it any more. I know, when I was a teenager I used to do the same thing...but I got over it. You need to really try hard to stop because it has become a habit.
