what is wrong with him?

Question

whenever there is a problem that needs fixing, he wants to do it himself but then does nothing. If I call someone the gets mad and says "I said I would fix it." Today's issue the pipes are frozen, I said lets get to work on it he says, they'll thaw on their own." I sit and watch the weather its not going to hit 32 for days. I tell him this he tells me to shut up. I told him I'll call somebody, he says no they will just pull all the insulation off the pipes and he doesn't want to put it back. He started cleaning the place to avoid the pipes. I start out the door with my hair dryer to start warming the pipes he tells me not too. Once again I am doing nothing, when the pipes burst he'll have to do something and I will stay in a hotel while he does. I guess he wants to spend lots of money instead of minimal (in comparison). What is wrong with him?

Here's a better way to phrase the question...."What's wrong with my husband"? Because I'm not sure the "him" tag applies.

Unfortunately, we do not understand the "why" from your question. Are you guys short on $? Is he lazy? Is he wishy-washy? Does he see it as the man's job to fix things but he doesn't feel adequate to do it, so it doesn't get done?

Whatever the answer, your pipes are frozen, call somebody and when he gets mad, tell him to go talk to one of his buddies about it, because they'll look at him with the same disdain you must be developing for him...except he may pay attention to the wounded ego lash he recieves from them.

well to me it sounds like he has the pride of a man wanting to fix things himself and not willing to let others do it for him, but the problem is he doesnt seem to motivated to do the work.....so he will just have to face the consequences when hes stuck with busted pipes......he should learn to let others help him when its needed

its a man thing, you wouldnt understand.. realy.. frozen pipes will refreeze in minutes of thawing them.. yall need to install heat strips on all exposed pipes but they need to be thawed before installing the wrap...gonna cost a small fortune before this is over..an ounce of prevention is better than tons of cure

Guys usually do this because they have to feel like they can do things theirself or they arn't really a "man". Just call anyways and talk to him and explain how important it is to have someone come fix the things.
