That must qualify for one of the most stupid questions ever! The Queen was very young when She was called to take Her place of Destiny. The Queen and The Pontiff are not in competition and in fact Her Majesty has made a State Visit to the Vatican a few times and the meetings have always been cordial.Remember, The Queen is The Sovereign of people of all faiths and those of none. Why make mischief where there is none?

Actually, four popes have died during the reign of Elizabeth II: Pius XII, John XXIII, John Paul I, and John Paul II. Since she was only 25 when she become queen, and the popes much older, it is to be expected. The current pope, Benedict XVI, is the first pope to have been born after Elizabeth.

To see this as Catholicism dying out is poor reasoning.

The queen came to the throne when she was 25. Most Popes are appointed when they're the wrong side of 60. Clerics tend to live longer than normal human beings. Rumour has it they're reluctant to meet the boss.

No. Just that the leaders (Popes) of the Catholic church are picked when they are Old (about 68 -70 years old), and so do not live long!
The Queen was young (23 years old), when she became Queen, (and she is now just in her 80's)

ok the queen sucks and serves no purpose. popes are usually elected at a later stage in live so they truly know the word of god. the previous popes benefited this world so much and our new pope benedict is doing the same. hte catholic church is stronger than ever and with more and more catholic evangelising going on the numbers have increased, the catholic church receives more converts than any other church including protestant fundamentalists. if you knew the truth and beauty of the catholic faith you'd all be catholic aswell and realize that it isn't boring but true and holy worship not based on emotionalism.

Queens do tend to get to the top slot slightly earlier, you know. I can never forsee a 25 year old pope.
