Yeah, it'll spin in either direction. The motor's not set for one specific direction, so it'll just start spinning and go whichever way happens to be easiest each time.

You're not imagining it...it spins in the opposite direction everytime its started.

yeah, my microwave does that too; it'll spin clockwise one time, and then counter clockwise the next time.
