Well, first off, let me say, I pull for the 8 car. I was a Dale Sr. fan for 20 years, and when he died, I started following Jr.
As far as Gordon goes, I respect him as a driver. It makes me laugh when people try to compare him and Dale Sr. as drivers. They come from two different eras. Dale came up poor and worked for everything, while Jeff grew up in better conditions and had a top notch ride in Nascar handed to him, with unlimited finances.
That's not a knock on Gordon. It's just how Nascar has changed. It's gotten so big, they want results, right now, you know? Gordon was the first one who got 'the big ride' right up front. I'm not saying he didn't have to work for it. He drove his a** off for a lot of years to get to NASCAR.
If he wasn't talented, he wouldn't have been handed that big ride. A lot of people forget, Gordon wrecked a lot of cars his first year and a half in the big leagues.
But, he learned the ropes, and he won big. A lot of people resented him for it because he jumped right into a top notch ride. But, like I said, that's not his fault. That's how NASCAR has changed. Johnson, Kahne, McMurray, Busch&Busch, Mears, all those guys are getting big up front money now, and being put in top rides, because owners want results right now, because they have to keep up.
Trouble is, some of these drivers don't perform up to expectation. Look at Vickers.
So anyway, I like Gordon, and I respect his numbers. But, I'll always be an Earnhardt fan.

I have been a Jeff Gordon fan ever since I was 10 years old and hope that this is the year that Jeff Gordon wins the Nextel Cup - as a driver, instead of a car owner this time around!

I'm not immature. I don't dislike Jr. I'm a Johnson fan. What I do dislike is the people (like those that answer questions here) who immediately hate anyone who has a favorite driver other than Jr. Okay, so some of you are Jr. fans... good for you, don't be a jerk about it. I have respect and admiration for Gordon, Jimmie, Stewart, Earnhardt Sr, Petty and many other drivers, including Earnhardt Jr regarding their talents, their ability to drive and their character. I just have absolutely no respect for the little people that just bash everyone else. I hope all the drivers have a good and safe year. Congrats to Jeff on the marriage and baby.

I am. My husband is a Jimmie Johnson fan and my son and I are Jeff Gordon fans !!!! Back in Feb. 2005, we went to Daytona for a tour, the day after the race and there was a guy cleaning the pits and saw that my son had on a Jeff Gordon shirt, and came over to him and gave him a lug nut that had just come off of JG's car the day before when he won the Daytona 500. Then last year, we went to the race and my husband's driver, Jimmiw Johnson won the race !!!!!

hi, jeff gordon is now a father with family. gordon's stats show he rates among the best. dale sr. was also a great driver. both race chevys. i'm a gordon fan. and will always remember dale sr.

The only fire and flames your going to see in 07 coming off of the Hendrick Motorsports teams is Jimmie and jeffy's butts chasing each other around their trailors...fire and flames...LOL What a joke! He was forced to go to fire because the rainbow looked bad because it just told the truth..flames, PAH!!! We all know good and well Tony, a real man, is going to whip jeffy Poopoo's butt all over the track....or maybe jeffy poopoo can play his spin to win move and win a couple by CHEATING!
