I have 9 dogs 5 of them boxers ranging from 8 months to 31/2 years old 3 females 2 males all spayed and neutered. They have recently become aggressive with each other. They seem to pick on one certain female, her ear has developed a hematoma that has been operated on twice and I am having a hard time healing. I have seperated the dogs but they can break out of any kennel or pen. Any suggestions???

dogs in paticular are pack animals and if they take a dislike to one animal in the pack agression leads to death in the wild maybe with out sounding cruel you have to many dogs and maybe getting rid of some would be a good idea

I have 13 dogs, and never have rivalry problems. I can even have a Chihuahua sharing a bone with a Bearded Collie without problems. Why? Because if there is any growling to be done, then I'll do it!! I choose to keep more than the usual number of dogs, so it's my responsibilty to ensure they don't come to harm. I do basic obedience with the smaller breeds, and more serious stuff with the big dogs. I adore all my canines, and I would never hit one, but they have to know that I make the decisions in this house, not them. I only have to say "leave" if one approaches another to steal something, so I know it can be done. If you keep a large number, it's hard work, and you have to put the time into training. If you don't have the time, then you shouldn't have the dogs. If I even sniff a hint of a disagreement, I can stop it with one word. You really do have to have this sort of control if you want to live in harmony.

if they can break out then your pens are not properly built. I used to breed and show boxers and none ever broke out of my kennels and runs. I think you need to rehome the one who is getting picked on before they kill her. Then get some quotes for getting some proper kennels and runs built to ensure they stay safe within their pens. The situation is a terrible accident waiting to happen as you seem unable to manage the amount of dogs you have.
I have 8 dogs, have had up to 14, but good kennels and good management means I don't have dog fights.
If you have too many dogs to be able to care for them properly, you must rehome some of them.

Time to box the Boxers. Correct them before they start in on her. You can see ahead when it's brewing before the scrapping starts. Stop the attack before they actually do it.
I won't tell you to talk to them gently or get them doggie counseling. You better take over the alpha role or start finding another job to pay for all the vet bills.

I think you love dogs but why so many. £10000 a year to look after them you must be rich, so where the problem?

Sometimes if you have more than 1 female dog in a house they can get aggersive to eachother.

Sounds to me as though they have adopted a pack mentality. They are picking on the weakest member of the pack.
Try rewarding their good behaviour.

They are alpha you arenm't. You should be the one discipling other dogs not them . Strict obediance school for them or you being assertive with them and showing them you are the boss not them

time to really think about finding homes for some of them,,, you couldn't possibly be giving enough exercise , love and attention to that many dogs........ daily walks are essential to take the edge off,, dogs do not exercise themselves

call the dog whisper! i watched that similar situation last night, you have to find out if it is the pack of dogs or just a certain dog(s) that aren't getting along... i would try and talk to a dog behaviorist. i know that by separating them wont solve the problem, it could just make it worse
