You say we haven't proved anything, phah! We've proved plenty of things!
1. We have a profound and longstanding failure to elect responsible politicians, culminating rather tragically in the current Administration.
2. Tough talking armchair warriors know how to talk it up but have 0 clues on how to actually prosecute a blood and guts conflict.
3. Political ideologes should stay in academia and keep the delusions of World-dominiation/Weldpolitics to the history department, where it belongs.
4. That the dead and wounded both American soldiers and Iraqi civilians deserved a whole lot better than we got in our political/religious leaders.
5. Religion/Christian or Islamic faith and fervor isn't worth a red cent, when your political/religious leaders refuse to be bound by any responsibility towards actually upholding the moral values that they pretend to hold so dearly.
6. That Iraq like Viet Nam wasn't a failure of will on the part of the American People or even the resolve of the Viet Namese but a rather complete failure of the political leaders to be responsible and to see the situation for what it is.
Lessons we have yet to learn
1. Live within our means - fiscal disaster awaits us if we continue to elect sunny-day tax-break happy politicians who couldn't deal with a small cloud of economic bad-news let alone a serious storm.
2. It seems trite and it probably is but we might want to seriously consider grilling the next presidential candidate from Texas, they seem to suffer an inability to work to scale and almost seem to enjoy getting us into wars.
3. Someday politicians or the civilians who elected them might be called to account for irresponsbilitiy and for their completely masturbatory behavior regarding REAL and serious terrorism problems.
Defying radical religious nutjobs to "dare" to nuke us with carefully considered statements like "Bring it On" etc. When speaking on international terrorism, arrogance like that deserves whatever comes its way. Unfortunately those living in cities like New York, Washington, Los Angeles or Philadelphia may seem somewhat less than comforted when the target audience is actively seeking to use/obtain loose nuclear materials.
So when some major US cities are wiped off the map by what will be characterized by the leaders of the day as some "uppity" two-bit terrorist operations involved with stolen nuclear weapons or bioweapons or whatever, and there are several hundred-thousands of dead American civilians our politicians might be called to account for responsbilitiy for their completely inappropriate behavior.
============================
There are plenty of lessons to learn from this debacle, we just won't.

U said "We haven't proved anything in Iraq in the past 3 years, lets pull the remaining troops & bring them to safety."
What u fail to realize is that if we pull the troops out, within a month, iraq will fall apart, the islamic extremists will find themseves a stronghold, and a base from which to launch attacks on america, which will in turn lead to the US reentering iraq to stop the attacks. Now tell me how ironic that would be. i've heard some retards say we have to withdraw so the iraqis can figure out their problems. Well as was proven in february 06, all it takes to lead to allout fighting is a couple of crazies with guns and bombs, both plentiful in iraq. even if the U.S. withdraws, and there is some kind of peace talk going on between the different sects, all alqaeda has to do is blow up some shiite holy mosque, triggering retaliations and with no US army to keep the violence in check, well the above scenario then results. so pulling the troops out now may be a short term solution, but in the long term, it will lead to america reoccupying iraq

This isnt about proving anything. The militant forces opposing us in that region have no intention of letting coalition forces leave there alive. As soon as these militias notice the Americans in a defensive position like they would be in to prepare to withdraw, because they have a great deal of equipment to pack up. These militias will round up soldiers, kidnap them, and kill them. They will kill our soldiers and tape it for broadcast on Al Jazeera. Whether you like it or not this country is committed to this war.

We could pull out now and prove that liberals like you are the best friends the terrorists have. How can you endorse a philosophy endorsed by enemies of this country and not see danger in that?
