Because they have HOLES in because of all the suicide bombers.
Maybe 'holy city' is the PC version of 'backwards, savage, cess pit.'

Holy Cities in the Middle east are referred to as Holy due to their history, which is common to all the major faiths we have today, Christianity, Islam and Judaism. What you see on the news does not reflect the holiness of today but the Holiness of what happened thousands of years ago when prophets of God were sent to the earth to spread the word of God. Just because some power hungry people are showing off their toys doesn't mean to say the cities become unholy.

The citites are Holy that is the reason why the people act that way. The lands are holy due to the fact that if you read scriptures many of those stories happened in those cities.
You must understand that many mystical things, happened there. They are Holy Cities. The laws of those lands are based off scripture not the laws of commom man and legislative whenever a crime is commited they go to the scripture to find the punishment.

Not all of those cities in the Middle East are holy. If your talking about Muslims they're three holy cities for us. Two are Mecca and Medina in Saudi Arabia and the third is Jerusalem in Palestine(Israel). Unfortunately we can't get into Jerusalem without the Jews attacking us and making a big deal of it. Other than that they're not any other holy cities. As for the guys with AK47s those are most likely Muslim extremists who use terrorism as a means to make their point and kill innocent people.

Because the majority are thought of as being Christians, Muslims, or Jewish. To those Middle Eastern religions those are their holy sites. The news reporters assume that most people watching the news are of those three monotheistic religions.
For me, they are just cities in the Middle East. And frankly I get tired of hearing news about the Middle East. I think there are other more interesting news topics they could be covering.

That is because years ago some of these cities were known as Holy Cities. Because they obey the one and true God.
However, now in this time, many of them has turned from God and does what they like, killing the innocence etc.
But God still have a people who are Holy People.

You do realize that Jesus came from the Middle East, was brown skinned and spoke a foreign language, right?

Lets see now....someone attacks your holy city with weapons of mass destruction killing your wife, mother, children, neighbors et al. Hmmm let me think....you would be out there throwing rocks and shooting at them with your cheap AK47. Did I get that right? Just let me know if I got that wrong.

Because the Islamic faith is attempting to portray the land that was given by God to Jewish descendants as THEIR "holy sites".
Any historian knows the real story surrounding the middle-east and Israel.

No place from the middle east is holy to me.
Jesus cast them off as his people. The bible says that and no more are or is that a holy place.
The bible says that he is taking people from all walks of life from every nation of men. God is not partial that in every nation those who serve him are acceptable to him.
