I'm sure they're families do. However, the conservatives want them to continue to die, they call it supporting the troops.

I certainly do.
I agreed with the initial reason for going into Iraq - the deposition of Saddam Hussein and the locating of WMDs - but I strongly disagree with the quagmire that the conflict has become. And I don't believe that a troop surge is the answer. I think the only thing it will do is put more targets on the ground for the terrorists and accomplish little else.
The Iraqis in the government have taken little if any steps towards becoming self-sufficient, and are not showing any signs of increasing their efforts. I believe, from what my two-tour Iraq veteran son has told me, that the people want us there to help them, but the government in Iraq won't get off their butts and do what they need to do. In the mean time, the insurgents are running amok, and we can't stop them. After all, you can't fight the enemy unless you know WHO and WHERE he is...and we don't know who the insurgents are. Just like in 'Nam, the bad guy could be anybody.
I really don't care if the country will collapse if we pull out now, because I fully believe that it will collapse in six months anyway.

Although the troops would prefer to be home - we want to finish the job.
The really sad thing is that the anti-war crowd only listens to people who have no first-hand understanding of what is going on over there.

Everybody wants the troops home. The problem is that the mission needs to be accomplished. Any true soldier, Marine, airman, or sailor would tell you they would rather fight and finish it than retreat cowardly.

Who doesn't want them to come home?
The faster they accomplish their mission, the better. No one wants them over there, and they certainly don't want to be there, reguardless of whether or not they believe in what they are doing.
