Because a fever can occur with many different conditions, other signs and symptoms can often help identify the cause. If you don't know why you have a fever, it's best not to try to lower your temperature. This may only mask your symptoms and make it harder to determine the cause. In addition, some experts think that aggressively treating all fevers actually interferes with your body's immune response. That's because the viruses that cause colds and other respiratory infections thrive at cool temperatures. By producing a low-grade fever, your body may actually be helping eliminate the virus. What's more, most fevers go away in a relatively short time — usually within a few days

There is a few reasons why. First is that your body can experiance normal temperature variation through out the day, up to 100.0. This does not mean there is a problem and then you are taking medicines for no reason. Second, a low grade fever can mark the beginning of many disease processes (cold, strep throat, etc). Many of these things, we can defend on our own. Our brain kicks on the heat if they feel there is an invader. This heat increases blood flow (include immune system cells) and increases metabolism (the spead at which the body works). These both help a great deal. When you take Acetom/Ibu then you reset the brains thermostat for a few hours and the rest of the body has to fight with out the added edge.
I hope this was readable and understandable.

A normal temperature range is between 96.8 and 100.4. Anything above 100.4 is considered a fever or anything above 1 degree what your normal temperature. Everyone has different body temps. Some people are at the typical 98.6 others are lower or higher. A fever is simply your body's way of fighting off bacteria and viruses. Its one of your immune system's way of destroying "bugs". If you have been running the fever for several days and are having other signs and symptoms you need to contact your doctor. Also drink plenty of fluids so you do not become dehydrated!

The reason is that a low grade fever boosts your immune system. It activates our white blood cells that fight against foreign bodies to protect us...that's a good thing so that is why it is not recommended to inhibit a natural response from our organism.

Low grade fever means your body is trying to fight something that is ongoing. This means that you need a doctor's intervention - IMMEDIATELY!
My friend's truely sad story:
I got tired of my friend's low grade fever so I told him to get an x-ray. He said it was his allergies. I said I'll call your doctor and demand an x-ray. His doc immediately told him to get a specialist after the x-ray.
- - - He finished 3 weeks of brain radiation in November. Now they want him to have chemo.
GOD bless us always.

Only one reason our immune system has been compromised to much with anti bio tics and to the point where if we rarely get sick one day nothing will help if the immune system breaks down, so if your doctor has told you anything like this get another opinion or a medical lawyer for their thoughts .your immune system could be compromised because of over prescribing crap.
