The media failed to give the recovery of weapons proper coverage and made them go bye bye in an attempt to shame our president about 6 months after the invasion of Iraq. Which doesn't mean they were any less existent, btw.
The war is a real can of worms, but pussyfooting around over there does no one good so, I think we should hit it full force.
The death toll of troops (which I am not unconcerned with or, insensitive to) still does no equal the loss of lives suffered on 9/11. We must not forget that those 9/11 deaths of the innocent took place on our soil and accordingly, our first priority must be to do whatever needed to prevent repeats of 9/11. We have danced around the taunts of terrorists for too long and by doing so, only emboldened their strikes. There are no easy answers or, fast solutions. However, we can't come home at this point expecting everything to be swept under the universal rug and the expectation and presumption that we can, will only elicit further eruptions of violence against our civilian population and on our soil.
Also, giving up at this point would mean that the loss of troops thusfar would be for naight. Those lives have not been given in vain as the media would have you believe, but instead symbolize the United States' assertion that our country and every country has a right to continue as independent, safe and peace filled nations, existing outside the reach of terrorism and attack. I strongly feel that we cannot properly honor those lives by simply walking away, saying we made a mistake or, that the costs of winning are simply too high. If we don't follow this through the American losses to come will far exceed what has been incurred in Iraq.
Also, we can't allow ourselves to be led by the media's pompous, arrogant and repeated sideways assertions that those innocent Iraqi lives being lost hourly upon Iraqi soil due to the terrorists invading their country are, in any way, less valuable than American lives. Their blood is no different. Their losses no less tragic. Their suffering much more widespread than any we have known yet, no one in our media is keeping count of total Iraqi losses.
I don't know about you, but I didn't stop getting beat up on by my siblings until I mustered the nerve, the strength and the courage to stop yelling, 'uncle!' Whenever I've yelled 'uncle' in my life, my opponents whether in the home, school or, business have simply taken a break, regrouped and come back with more force and confidence than I experienced before. It is a one of the most basic concepts learned while growing up yet, it is one that seems to be lost upon the majority of our media and political talking heads.
Perhaps, we need to start them over in grade school?

The U.S. found 500 shells filled with chemical weapons according to Congress last year. During the first part of the second Gulf War whole buildings were being taken apart and shipped to Jordan and Syria. Other chemical shells could have made their way there as well. Even Iraq's generals believed he had WMD.
I think all the goals the U.S. and allies set out will have been accomplished by April of 2008. Iraq has a functioning democratally elected government, will have fully trained police and military by June 2007, over 85% of the infrastucture projects were completed in August 2006 (and haven't been able to find the update although I hear that they turned over the remaining projects to the Iraqis). Also the U.S. and allies have been turning over who providences (Iraq has 18) back over to Iraq's government. That part is suppose to be accomplished by April 2008.

I think war in general sucks. But, I think our troops are doing a hell of a job of defending people that can't defend themselves while people back at home burn the flag that flies above our troops heads. The weapons of mass destruction are in Syria and Iran.
If you knew the cops were coming to search your house, would you keep stuff you didn't want them to find lying around or would you get rid of it? Why do people think Saddam wasn't intelligent enough to move the stuff out?

We recovered more than 500 chemical warheads - and had several soldiers injured when attacked by IEDs made from nerve-gas artillery shells.
The news media minimized these events. Thus helping maintain the lie that chemical weapons were not recovered in Iraq.

the war in iraq sucks. it seems so pointless. the reason troops were sent out there was to find saddam hussein and now he's dead. but they're still there! the weapons of mass destruction are in korea! they have told the americas that they are working with those kinds of weapons. or was it japan. either way if the troops are looking for weapons of mass destruction they are way off. thousands of miles off!!!!

Tons of chemical weapons were found. The rest of the program was shipped to Syria. There is quite a lot of dual use tehnology unaccounted for as well, which is probably where Iran got their nuke program from (via syria or the highest bidder).
