it doesn't really matter. i've done both. but usually after the water is boiling... also, i usually poke holes in the dogs with a fork so that they don't get to fat and explode - but you don't have to!

actually you can just throw them in the microwave for a few 30-45seconds... that's what i've started doing!

Boil the water then add the hotdogs, put a lid on the pot and turn off the heat.

doesn't matter

If you want to save electricity however, put the hotdogs in the water after they are thawed out, and before it boils. If you put them in boiling water cold or frozen, it only serves to cool the water down and the water has to re boil.

either way - your dogs will be cooked and they'll be fine. I like mine split wide open.

I alway add them to the water first and then bring it to a boil. It doesn't matter too much, they just need to be warmed up. Add lots of spices to your water- chili flakes, garlic powder, onion flakes, etc. It makes them really good!

actually, you should bring the water to a rolling boil, then add hot dogs tunr off heat and cover for 15 minutes. This makes em not mushy!

I'd add 'em in the beginning. Less chance of burning yourself that way and it won't effect the flavor one bit. Hot dogs are pre-cooked, so all you have to do is warm 'em up.

You can add them in the beginning.
Most hot dogs are already cooked, so all you're doing is heating them up.

I do it either way, depends on how hungry everyone is. I really don't think it matters, when the hot dogs plump up they are usually ready.

Start them in cooler water, if they heat too fast the skin breaks.

Either way is fine.

They are HOT DOGS---not a gourmet food!
