Hi :)_
This is a really good and evenhanded site done by reputable researchers:
www.biopsychiatry.com
Their opinion, and the research behind it, does not find it very promising in comparison to other drugs available for most things. You can find the description and links at the 9th paragraph under 'dead ends'.
One of the things it has shown some promise for is the pain of MS, and I once used it to see if it would do me any good... It did not do much except drain me of motivation and make me care a bit less about addressing the health problems I already had.
I decided that it was not worth it, especially considering the legal risks... Medical marijuana is 'legal' in Alaska (you can get a prescription), but it is not legal to possess, because it is still federally prohibited. It is therefore a vulnerability if anyone ever decided to notice that you use, and therefore probably possess, marijuana. Prescription registries have been historically handy in finding out who these people are for prohibition demo campaigns.
Also it is increasingly important to have 'moral pee'.
I discovered that even with the prescribed drugs that I take, I am considered to have tinkle too immoral to work in any place where a driver's license is required, or where there is contact with children or the vulnerable (like elderly, or handicapped).
Drug residue in your tinkle makes you societally evil in itself, regardless of the reasons you use those drugs. People with terminal cancer are therefore basicly evil and a danger to children... You may join this group by tainting your tinkle.
Once it has been discovered to have been tainted, it will follow you for life, affecting your ability to defend yourself in court on any drug or alcohol related charge, to retain custody of your children, or to get a CDL, or a federally funded job. To give you some idea of how big a deal this is, I cannot work at a small town local library, because they receive federally funded grants and serve minors.
Weed is pretty safe except for the inhaled tar, particulates and slight rebound effect, and its effects have a short shelf life, so you can medicate exactly adequately and not overmedicate->undermedicate on the 4 hour pain med cycle... It did not take care of pain very well, but it did actually reduce suffering from it somewhat... but the legal risk of serious life damage is too high for me. I do not want to be a felon with seriously restricted employment possibilities, and I do not want to live in fear of that either.

Get a care provider card. Its easier and cheaper. Then there is no record of you going to a doctor for that junk either. The 'clubs' or 'dispensaries' have different prices and choices. They will help you with what type you want. You can buy a little ($25) or alot ($200). If you really want it for medical reasons, don't smoke it. Its medicine if you make it a tea and drink it. Otherwise, keep it illegal ! Some believe 'big tobacco' has fields ready when it is legalized. My friends will all be out of business and the price will sky rocket! It already has since California passed the first 'legalized marijuana' laws !!!

It's very hard to get a script for medical marijuana. First, it has to be legal in your state. Not all states allow medical marijuana. Secondly, you need to find a doctor to prescribe it. Not all doctors feel comfortable with prescribing it. Thirdly, you need a valid medical issue. Marijuana is most often prescribed to help with the symptoms of cancer treatments. It's not usually prescribed as a first line drug for stress, anxiety, and depression. Your doctor will probably want you to go to counseling first, and he may want to try different medications before he prescribes marijuana. Doctors are acutely aware of the vast number of people who want a prescription just so they can use marijuana legally, so you will have to prove that you aren't one of them before they will even consider prescribing you the drug.
Hope this helps...

This is an ABUSE of so-called "medical marijuana," and it is not "medical marijuana," at all, but rather routine pothead usage.
Once "medical marijuana" allowances are made, people will call every situation "medical," just as some people call a minor cut an "emergency."
