I am with Blueyonder Broadband and their technical support is ver very incompetent! ahhhhh stress!

I also have many A level deadlines on monday!

Go into Control Panel > System > Hardware > Device Manager and find out the exact make and model of your modem and network adapter, then use the working computer to go to the manufacturers' sites, download the drivers, and burn them to a CD so you can install them on the reformatted computer. Before going online with SP1, go to www.microsoft.com and download SP2, and go to www.autopatcher.com to download the Autopatcher program (November full release, December update, and January update) which will let you install updates since SP2 without exposing your computer online. WARNING: If the SP1 disk you reinstalled from isn't ready for SP2 it can be tricky to get it to install right -- there are some pre-SP2 patches that can screw things up if done in the wrong order. If you have a disk imaging program like Norton Ghost or Acronis True Image, you may want to create a disk image at several stages in the process so that if SP2 doesn't install properly you won't have to start all over again.

There are 3 things you can do:

1.) Go out and buy a new network card and install it with the drivers.

2.) Look online for the driver you need. To find out what network card you have, just right click on "My Computer" click "Properties" then the "Hardware" tab and then click the "Device Manager" button and you'll get a list of your hardware. Find your network card's name and do a search online for drivers (the manufacturer's site might have it). Then you can put that on your wiped hard drive and install that. Try and get the latest version, but any version should work.

3.) Call your ISP for their software CD, install the USB software and hook your computer to your modem via USB.

do you have wireless? if so, check all of the ports. try using another computer to see if the internet will work with that, or get a laptop, and go to some wort of bakery or something to get free wifi
hope that helps.
