Are we looking at the problem backwards?

While running for governor,Kinky Friedman came up with what I consider to be a good idea for controlling the tide of illegal aliens.Now,keep in mind,he said that he knew this could never be implemented.But it was still a perfect example of the kind of radical thinking we need to control this problem.
His idea was that we divide the border up into 5 sections.We then hire 5 generals from the mexican army and assign each a section of border to patrol(on their side).Then,for each general we open an escrow account of $1,000,000.Every time we catch an illegal coming across the border we deduct $10,000 from the account of the general in charge of that section.
What do you think about this?Would it work?

Ummm...no becuase they would find a way to kepp that extravagant salary and still smuggle in the illegals. That wouldn't work. But dividing up the border into zones to manage is a pretty good idea! In small chunks things are easier to handle!

impossible. There is never going to be a set stopping time. Plus that lets them opt to be in favor of our laws or not. They could aide the people crossing and supply them with whatever they might need not to get caught. And then we'd be paying them to help people illegally enter the country. Kind of a stupid idea all around, but it is thinking out of the box.

Since the Democrats want to raise taxes, I propose an immigrant worker tax paid by the immigrant worker's salary. Then, they must purchase a work permit from a government agency funded by their income. An annual renewal fee is charged. Then, they must pay for driver's education, their own medical care & worker's comp insurance via wage taxes. Then, they pay a tax for a valid picture ID, fingerprinting and background check. They must pay a tax for educating their children and a tax for public services like sewage, street lighting, law enforcement, etc.

For each year in the USA, they must go back for one year to make room for other migrant workers. English literacy is mandatory in all cases.

Everyone wins!
