I just got a Havanese puppy and not too many people that I've asked have even heard of them. So, he is dark brown/black on top and cream colored underneath, I was wondering if I take him to the groomer and they cut his hair will the brown/black grow back or will he then be cream colored forever?

They continue to change coloring for all of their lives. the color will change when it is clipped, but there is no way to know just which coloring he will have when the new coat grows in..the light color you are seeing is mostly undercoat, and will always be near the skin. But he will likely become lighter as he matures.
You can see the variations in coloring here> http://images.google.com/images?client=firefox-a&channel=s&rls=org.mozilla%3Aen-US%3Aofficial&hl=en&q=havanese+dog&btnG=Search+Images
My breed does the same thing, and they always become lighter as the years pass..although they are mostly born very dark.
I have a puppy born black, but is now golden..

If you look at the dog that is the third pic from the right, on the top row..that dog was born as a black puppy.

No he wont stay cream colored forever. My friend just got a havenese puppy and she takes it to the groomers all the time. The color will come back.

Dogs' hair color will probable be there forever because of the pigment in its skin.......I hope that helps......
