catholics say they don't go to heaven....I think that God judges us on our merits...maybe if it was because you were unstable mentally or totally in grief he would understand

It depends on your religious viewpoint. After they die, some believe they will go to heaven if they are saved, while others believe that suicide is a sin, and they will go to hell. Some people believe that when you die, that's it. No afterlife, you are just worm food.

As far as the experience of dying, that depends on what method them committed suicide with. Some methods are really painful, and others are fairly peaceful.

If they are Catholic, they do not go to hell. Instead they are doomed to purgatory. Also they cannot be buried in a Catholic cemetery.
