I'm fostering 5 young kittens in my spare room for the Shelter I volunteer at. They are getting quite active but are too young yet to know to use the litter tray ...although I know a couple are?? Someone in a yahoo cat group I'm in from Canada suggested Potty Pads. Does anyone know where I can purchase them here in Australia...I'm in Melbourne.

I currently have 5 foster kittens that are three weeks old. They are starting to use a shallow litter pan.
DO NOT get them used to using a pad. You are setting the future owners up for a lifetime with a cat that has a high chance of litterbox issues. I have seen this happen a lot with "paper trained" kittens.
Introduce a litter pan NOW!!!

I don't know about potty pads, but I taught my 5 week old kitten to use the litter box. It took a week or so for him to get the hang of it. Just use a really low box (or even a baking pan at first). If they make any "mistakes" outside the box, pick it up, and place it in the box. You might have to put them in the box, and show them how to scratch at first. They will get the idea pretty quickly. Make sure you use regular litter and not the clumping litter, until they understand that litter isn't for eating.

Hope this helps...
