~~~jaja ,,,, Only in the context that there is so much of this Misinformation in the form of printed material, en masse, that it would provide a temporary source of energy in home fireplaces of the needy, provided by the church collections. The 'best editions' should be saved for Posterity, just as Hitler's "Mein Kampf" and other Nazi Propaganda serve their roles in The History of Mankind. Now,,, Let Independent Scholars have access to ALL HOLY SCRIPTURE from Christendom,,, Identify the SYMBOLISM which was plagiarized from christianity's Contemporaries and Predecessors. This is well documented by the Scholarship of the Greatest Philosophers in history who have challenged Organized Religion specifically, and Supreme Beings generally.....And the Scholarship of Mythologists such as Joseph Campbell who comprehesively puts the pieces together of The Evolution of Man's Identity with The Self, The Earth and The Cosmos.
Why do Christians take things to such extremes?
Just because someone doesn't believe in the bible, doesn't immediately mean they hate the bible and want to burn them to a cinder. They aren't Christians and don't generally behave in that kind of idiotic fashion.
The bible is just a book. Said for the millionth time. Its just a book. It means absolutely nothing at all. Atheists do NOT support burning any holy books because they can still be read for interests sake, just like any other book, even if they mean absolutely nothing at all.
Why are Christians so weird as to automatically assume that Atheists are as hateful as they are? Its only Christians that I've ever heard of that burn books just because the books have content they don't like.
Nah that would be just as silly as burning books on Greek or Roman mythology. Besides wouldn't it be better to recycle instead of burning?
No! Just because I do not believe that the Bible should be believed literally, and that Jesus is not the son of God, does not mean that those beliefs should be taken away from all of the devout christians who depend on them. I think that each religion has something that we can learn, despite the fact of believing in it or not. Religion is useful to people, and they should not be denied that.
I'm a third generation atheist and I have no desire to destroy books. I really don't understand the value of destroying Bibles since I've found precious few Christians who've ever read the Bible. Mostly they seem to base their beliefs on what someone else claims to have read.
Why are you asking such a rediculous question and why are you insinuating that an atheist would want to burn something they don't believe in? Would you burn the qur'an?
Atheists hate every religion except their own (the worship of matter).
The secular humanist establishment may not burn books it disagrees with, but it is intent on censoring views it disagrees with.
Oh and by the way, in the atheist, social experiment of the 20th century, where millions were brutally murdered in the declared atheist regimes of the Soviet Union, Red China, Cambodia etc. etc. many books including Bibles were banned, confiscated, destroyed and BURNT, don't even ask what happened to their owners?
So the answer is obviously yes! they do burn Bibles when they have the opportunity to do it with the sanction of an atheist state.
Nope.
I don't care if other people believe in it and use it in aid to their worship. There are some good things in it.
I just don't want people telling me that *I* must live my life in accordance with its teachings.
And I do get riled up when folks insist it is true. Take it on faith if you want, but do not confuse it with the truth.
Fundamentalist Christians have the history of censorship and book-burning.
Name one book ever boycotted or burned by Atheists?
