I know if you are catholic and want to wed in another church, you would need a dispensation from your bishop saying it is OK. Do you think if you if you want to get married by a non-denominational minister that the bishop would be OK with that?

To get married in another Church you need permission from the Bishop, they will give you permission

there would need to be a really great reason for the bishop to grant this. why not just have a proper wedding in the catholic church by a qualified priestly successor as opposed to a non denominational minister who has no proper jurisdiction to perform these duties.

Sometimes they allow marriage in another denomination but only if a catholic priest is in attendance too to administer the sacrament of matrimony....otherwise you will not be married in the eyes of the church and will be living in sin. You could have a non-denominational or denominational ceremony for your spouse BUT ONLY if you are married in the catholic church too.

If you want to get married do it. If your church does not accept it find annother one. Don't let them run your life.
