you do no longer say if that's xp professional or xp homestead. if that's xp homestead, you need to be waiting as properly into secure mode as Administrator (with password sparkling) and then bypass to regulate Panel / consumer money owed and get rid of the password for the account you in many situations use. if no longer, or if that's xp professional, acquire the basically spectacular Boot CD onto yet another computing gadget and burn it to CD. use this CD as properly your computing gadget. it has a gadget on it which permits you to reset and/or get rid of any xp password by skill of without postpone gaining access to the registry key it is saved in (makes use of Linux).

When setting up your computer for the first time, it should ask you to create a password.
This should be something that only you or other users of this computer should know.
Do not use something that most people would know about you, the computer should also prompt you for a hint to refresh your memory in case you forget your password.

If you don't actually have a password, you should be able to put in your username and press enter. Otherwise in the user manual it will probably say something about a default password which your computer sets to.

I had to do this recently for my daughter as she completely forgot her password. It's very simple to do, put administrator for the user name and leave the password blank, then go to user accounts and do all you want to from there.

If it's really your computer and you have forget it there is no way to restore it.
There is however a solution to this only if you have made in advance a recovery disc(it's a floppy disc).
