my boyfriend and i bought a tibetan spaniel about three month ago but she wasn’t registered at the kennel club, today we were at a dog show and met the president of a tibeten spaniel club and he ask were we got her and they think that place is a puppy farm so we called today to get the kennel club names of the mother and father and they refused to give us them because we bought her un-registered, they said they have the right to do that?

Yep, this is not a reputable breeder. Sorry. Just love your dog anyway and do what you can to educate others about the place where you got your dog. There are many, many 'breeders' like that out there. Sad.

This is a puppy mill - or a back yard breeder! I know a lot of folks here talk about a registered puppy being a "better" puppy, but even puppy mill dogs can and are registered! Please do not go by registration - AKC, CKC, etc., as that does not guarantee a reputable breeder OR a healthy, socialized puppy. In the future, adopt a dog, or go to a local breeder - one where you can meet the parents, see the home, etc. You may end up on a waiting list, but please take what you have learned and avoid puppy mills and comercial breeders in the future.
Love you new baby, the papers mean nothing, especially when it comes to the love you new pup can give you!

Once you purchase the dog, they are under no obligation to give you any information about the parents. If the puppy had been registered, the registration info would have stated the puppy's parents, but since she's not, then there's no way of finding out. If the puppy's parents aren't registered, they won't have kennel names anyways. This further proves that you purchased a puppy from a "puppy farm". Just be very careful about where you purchase a puppy from in the future.

Aww, that sucks. Well, the breeders aren't entitled to give you information after you bought the puppy. You can report these breeders, though to the AKC or something and they can call someone to go take a look at the place. If what you're saying is true about them having a puppy mill, they won't be able to breed dogs for a long time or never again. Well, all you can do now is love that puppy for everything it's got!

Sorry but that is a scam some people are pulling using AKC and other registries as well. They want to sell you this fine puppy and then tell you what you can do with it.They do not allow??? you to Breed/Show /pets only!!!!Was she registered at all?Go back to the Breeder and ask questions, even though it is probally too late.NEXT TIME DO YOUR HOMEWORK.Some registries don't have Beauty Shows only agility, working dogs etc.Just use this as a lesson learned. If you love your pup and it is Beautiful don't let anyone from one club put your dog down. There are show quality dogs born out of non AKC Reg. everyday. They can be a tight nit group of people that think their way is the only way.NOT!!!Good Luck!!!!!Love you baby regardless.Oh yes you should have been given your registration papers the day you bought your puppy. Also the papers are to be filled out completely except for the name at the Breeders home or place of sale. That is to protect these important papers from getting in the wrong hands.

Any reputable breeder will offer you the dogs pedigree up front. When my wife and I bought our Labs (two different breeders), both offered up photos, papers, medical reports, AKC docs, and introduced us to the parents. In fact, next time around you'll want to insist on meeting the parents of the pup as thats how you gauge the temperament of the offspring. If the breeder will not allow you to do so then politely say "No thanks" and find another. In any event I'm certain that you have a puppy that is going to give you years of unconditional love and affection and you now have knowledge that you can use in the future.

Listen to the guy from the TS club. He knows the breed. You are wasting your time going back to the breeder. You have just learned some valuable constructive criticism at the dog show.
You will still love and raise your pup BUT NEXT TIME you will be a little smarter when you go to buy a registered dog.
My advice to you is to forget the breeder you got the pup from. It will be fruitless to try to get anywhere with them. Continue to go to dog shows and talk to people in the TS breed. Always research before you buy from anyone. You will learn so much that who knows, you may eventually find yourself with a quality registered pup in the ring!

You were sold a puppy mill puppy. As a breeder it is disgusting to me the breeders would not give you this information. Breeders should be proud of their puppies and proud of the line they came from. I would never disclose information from a buyer and would never breed unregistered dogs. I would discourage anyone from buying from that kennel and educate people on the fact that they are a puppy farm.

Its unfortunate however it sounds as if the breeder you got your pup from is a puppy mill. They are trying to cover up their tracks by not giving you the show names, as the parents may not be registered after all.

If the puppy is not registered they dont have to give that to you. I would. Im sure if it was not registered you did not pay what a registered one costs. I personally would not buy an unregistered puppy, i like to know what im getting and where it came from , however if its not registered and they arent willing your fighting a loosing battle. You were willing to buy it unregistered and didnt ask questions. Sorry for your bad experence.
