Who is the stig from top gear? I know it's meant to be a secret, but if you don't know then who do you THINK it is?

a wild stab but the helmet says Alan McNish to me... im sure its his driving style, i know simpson helmets aren't much to go on so many drivers have them, myself included

The black Stig was Perry McCarthy, but there is lots of speculation as to the identity of the white stig. He is definitely an F1 driver, as otherwise he would not have been able to drive the F1 Renault in Episode 9 Series 5.
Also he drove a Toyota F1 car in series 8, and given that Allan McNish was a Toyota driver in 2002, this may give some kind of indication.
I wouldn't like to give a definite answer though because no one can be 100% sure.

The first stig, (the one in the white overalls) was Perry McCarthy.
The new stig (in the black overalls) is rumoured to be Julian Bailey.
It's not Damon Hill, Nigel Mansell or any other high profile F1 driver and I'm pretty sure it's not Ronnie Corbett!!

I think it's Damon Hill. When Damon was on Top Gear - his lines were very similar (if not identical) to the Stig's.

He's just a test driver - the reason that the Stig's name and appearance is a mystery is so that they can use a different driver from one episode to the next. I think...
