Its almost like there is some sort of pleasure that this man in the sky with a long grey beard and a big white robe who throws fireballs at cities when he's angry will punish people in the afterlife because "we didn't believe".

Its like the younger brother saying . . I'm telling mommy and your going to get grounded! and then the parents come home and then the younger brother says "big brother did it" and the parents yell and scream and the little brother is sitting there laughing, "See I told you were going to be punished."

Thing is thou,

Why isn't there any empirical evidence of a God? See with my scenario of the family, there is empirical evidence of parents. With the (some not all) Christians' Lord your Vengeful God, there just isn't any.

Their happiness is other peoples' evil-wishing.

Some get pleasure out of it because they're selfish. For them,
hell is the place for any one that they don't approve of.
For others, they believe what a preacher tells them, which
preacher mostly gets from lexicons, commentaries, and his
favourite televangelist, or from several paraphrases of the bible.
No protestant organization believes that any book is the real,
only bible, but rather in multiple choice ones.

Based on the words of an old bible, I admit that I don't have
the empirical evidence that you want.
I suppose I could tell you that if the empirical parents wanted
to rescue their bickering boys from murderers, I think an
empirical fireball would be the right way to go.

Damnation would be a punishment for a wrong belief that was the direct cause of death and/or mass murder as with the holocaust ww2. Beliefs cause human action, or they're not
real.
No Christians are told by the new testament to believe any
thing without proof or evidence, being that it said, Prove all
things. You shouldn't believe without proof, either.

Because they are hypocrites. (and perhaps a little jealous).

It is human nature to want to get more when you think you've done more. The influences are in Capitalism (and Greed). It's a kind of spiritual Greed.

It is hard to be a good boy, and some Christians write so many rules for themselves, they can only justify their lack of pleasure by condemning others.

However, this attitude you describe is contrary to the story of the Prodigal Son and the Lost Sheep. It is an un-Christian, and Jesus told off the Pharisees for that same attitude.

I'm sorry some Christians give you the idea that they pleasure from the idea of punishment to non-believers. I definately dont think its anything pleasurable.

I can't give you a definate answer to your question, being a Christian for 6 years, i really dont know, but i can tell you what i think it is.

God is evident today. Even though we dont see, hear, touch or taste him, you can see the effects of God. The bible illustrate God as the wind. You don't see it, but you can see the effects of it. In the busyness of our lives, we often don't pay attention any more to the little things God is doing. When God does do something to reveal himself to us, we resort to our human knowledge to justify and deny God's part. Science has become our God.

God has done his part to reveal himself when Jesus lived. He's done many miracles. Jesus wouldn't do miracles for those who just wants him to reveal his diety. The truth is, if you do not believe him, there is nothing God can do to make you believe him.

Hope that helps :)

Well, as with many cults, they have been brainwashed to believe a certain thing, and will die for their cause. why would they do that? It stems down to the point of origin. Basically, now this is a summation, there were a group of people who had a cause and to build their cause they got "soldiers". what do these soldiers do? well they build the cause for their leaders. Money, power and control are always involved with such endeavors. Now this works with any major organization, not just the church. Governments, households, races, many other entities.

How do the leaders or leader get their soldiers to do what they wish? Promises, fullfillment, and guarantees of a life better than their own. They are literally brainwashed.

So, many christians take this to a new level and honestly believe what they are taught without ever having picked up a book other than the bible. These people are super scary only because they are willing to die for the sake of their belief. Much like terrorists ;)

I am seriously waiting on a study on christians. How many had a bad life, how many were sexually or physically abused as children. You know, my bet is that most have had a hard life. Tends that with any cult or religion (which is a cult gone mainstream - look it up), they prey on the weaker people with the weaker minds.

I have my own thoughts on this. I do not think it is so much pleasure, as much as it is they are reinforcing what they have been told to believe. I believe that so many Christians -down deep inside-do not believe that G-d would actually come to earth in human form, and the more they repeat this-and repeat this-they are reinforcing a belief they really do not believe.

I think they are angry that others follow beliefs that they feel could very easily be true, and they feel they cannot change what they say they believe.

Well, this is just my thoughts on the subject.

I feel no pleasure in the fact that anyone would go to hell. It makes me sick. Your comparison of the brothers, isn't really an accurate comparison. You see we do not tell on people to God. God can see for Himself. So it would be like mom or dad saw with their own eyes the sin of the kid. If you ask a Christian what happens if I don't accept Christ? We tell you what we believe our God has told us. It would be like if I asked you, " What will happen to me if I jump out this 20 story building window. How could I get angry with you if you tell me the truth, "You, jump, you die".

I grew up a southern baptist, and I can tell you that they get no pleasure from thinking people are going to hell. It is what they honestly believe will happen, and every one that I knew wanted to save people from it. That's why you get religion shoved down your throat by some people. And the beauty of spirituality is that not everyone agrees on the evidence. I was close to becoming an atheist until I gave birth to my son. One look at him and I knew that God exists, because something so beautiful could not just happen on it's own. Someone had to put science in motion! Although I'm no longer a southern baptist, and don't really go to church often, I believe in God.

" God is not willing that any should perish , but that ALL should come to repentance". 2 Peter 3:9

that was an earlier answer and that is how a true christian feels inside. a true bible believing moral christian does not want any, not any person to die the second death and burn for eternity.
Jesus only taught Love and kindness and sacrificed himself for every ones sake and no real true christian can look to another human and hope or be happy another is in pain.

truth is people are human and it is hard not to want a child rapist to be punished but again Christ died for all, they only have to ask.

this isn't any longer a punishment. that's a decision. God gave us love. He gave us Jesus, area of Himself, to take our sins away. no longer something comes for loose. So, He gave us and we are asked to grant lower back. settle for Jesus or die perpetually in soreness. nicely, selection is trouble-free. Nons are people who stay in a international of sin, born in sin, and are as puzzled via fact something people approximately existence. Haters on the different hand only hate and experience that any one loves God merits to be attacked, have their churches destroyed, etc. Geesh, all Christians do is stay a existence-style of the Lord and take a inspect to help others! Morals in the top don't get people into heaven. Being "sturdy" does no longer the two. The Bible needless to say states that Jesus is the way, the actuality, and the gentle. everyone that accepts Him would be with Him and the father. that's a decision, no longer a punishment, to circulate to hell. Hell is the punishment in itself. God does no longer want to deliver everyone there. He does no longer make the alternative for us. He gave us loose will. We make it.
