Autocad is a program used by interior designers and draftsmen. It basically lets you design you own floor plans! It has 2D and 3D viewing capabilities, but this program is very costly. A full 2007 version costs about $1,000.

try sketchup from Google. It's free. If you just want it for ideas and not actual building plans it should be fine. Other wise you can spend anywhere from $1000-$5000 for a good CAD package.

Don't rely on anything in software. While it might give you a good idea, it can't replace the help of a good architect.
