Hi there...consider Nature's Miracle Just For Cats (not plain NM) found worldwide at most pet stores. It's an enzymatic neutralizer which works by breaking down urine proteins by thoroughly soaking the areas affected and allowing to air dry. Repeated applications are necessary for heavily soiled areas.

We've tested nearly all enzyme neutralizers available in the marketplace for our exotic cats which have stronger urine than domestic cats and found that Nature's Miracle Just for Cats has always worked the best.

The only way to eliminate the odor is an enzymatic cleaner. Search any pet place for one. I have the one from:
http://www.drsfostersmith.com
It has made a world of difference, and the cat will rarely mark there again.
Also, a cat should never be allowed to wander in a car. Get a carrier, this is so important. The cat likely sprayed because he/she was afraid. If you have a carrier, at least the mess will be contained.

I know that smell all too well! We have several cats. Urine Gone is a great product! It comes with a black light that helps you look for the cat urine and once you find it, spray the area with the product and watch it disappear under the light!

Do not use Febreze. It may cover it up temporarily but the smell will come back even worse. There is a seller on ebay that sells a formula you mix at home and it works. Search on ebay for "Cat urine eliminator". The cost is $8.99 and the guy emails you the instructions for free.

There is some stuff that you can get like at Wal-Mart. The name of it is "Kids and Pets" or "Pets and Kids," anyway, you can find it in the pet section. It is pretty cheap. You just put is on, roll your windows down and let the sun dry it out. You can use it inside on carpets, clothes, etc. You might have some luck with a vinagar/baking soda mixture, but this other stuff is natual, will not stain or bleach anything and it smell better than vinagar.

Fabreze. But I do know that a lot of male cats will stop spraying after they are neutered so that might be an option you should consider to save your furniture and to make sure that you don't add to the population of unwanted cats.

There are some products that you can get at Petsmart or Petco, I think it is called Nature's Miracle. How come kitty wasn't in a cage? Good luck with that.

Febreze. There's also something called Odo-Ban or something like that. My friend uses that one. I use Febreze, though I don't need it so much now.
