I have a quote for a ceilidh band for my daughters wedding in Scotland, but I don't know if it is about right, or too much, or what. Anyone know?

It would, like any other band, depend on the popularity of the band, how good they are at what they do, how busy they are and can they fill any dates not already booked. Based on that For above average good band in high demand 1,000 to 12,000, for good band that are busy but not top of the game 800 to 1,000 and for poorer band, or new formed band 600 to 800. The above are for 4-5 piece with good vocals. Hope this of some help

Would agree with BobC £1000 - £1200 plus for a decent 4 or 5 piece. In process of finding a wedding band myself for my daughter. She went to see one last week (not with an agency) and said round about £1,000 depending on distance they had to travel. Had ceilidh band for my other daughter over 5 yrs ago and it was £850. I know all circumstances and those involved are different but I am really hoping this daughter decideds to have a bit of a mixture with her wedding band. Everyone loves Scottish dances eg Gay Gordons but with a big group of people there are lots of people not keen on the set dances etc. Only you will know what your guests want although to be honest we thought definitely ceilidh but at some on the dances, despite instructions from the caller who was excellent (Band was The Black Rose) quite a lot of the guests were reluctant to participate.
