hi for the fafsa for student aid, when you apply online right, u need to make a pin right, do u make one for yourself or your parents

U don't make the pin.. they will send u a pin in the mail (usually 10-14 days).. then u can go online and apply.. It may be better to fill out the paperwork FAFSA..it would be processed almost before u got the pin but u will need a pin to view it online or change something or renew it the next year

if you're a dependant student (under 24, no children, not married, not a vet, or ward of the court) then you will need yours and your parents PIN to sign the FAFSA.

If you are Independant, then it's just your PIN to sign the FAFSA. Check with your school to see if you can sign a signature page there, it would be quicker than applying for a PIN, getting it in the mail, and so forth. Call your financial aid office and ask if you can sign your FAFSA there. I know at the school i work at we can.

The Pin is a signature so yes you would need one for both you and your parents if you want to do the entire application online. If you don't get a pin for you and a parent you have an option to print out a signature page which you then mail into the departement of education to complete the application.

Don't worry it does get easier each year you complete the FAFSA and your financial aid office is there to help you out.

for both - they will email you and your parents their pins at your and their email addresses
