I mean like if you got really constipated and were trying to "go" could you push your intestines out by accident? I've read about kids getting them sucked out by pool drains so I know it's possible for them to come out there...

I’ve heard about people getting them sucked out by the toilets on board cruise ships, which use suction (generated by the motion of the ship through the water) to flush, rather than water pressure. That’s why there are sign telling you not to sit on the toilet while you flush. You’re supposed to finish what you’re doing and close the lid first. Pushing them out… I‘m not so sure. I think the internal membranes that hold the intestines in place in the abdominal cavity, the omentum and the mesentery (I kept getting them mixed up, which is why I never finished medical school) are supposed to keep them there. I suppose if they were damaged, and then you took Ex-Lax, it might work, but it’s not something I’d wish on anybody.

If you had a lot of pushing force, it would be possible. There was this one incident on the news. This one guy was doing squats, and he had so much weight on the bar for the weights. He went down and tried to come back up and the weight pushed out all of his intestines from his rear-end. The trainers that were spotting him couldn't even get the weights off of him. He died way before the ambulance could even get there to try and rescue him. Hope that clarifies something about losing your intestines through your posterior end.

Ah, yes the pool drains. Well, I don't think it's possible to inflict that type of pain on yourself. But there have also been cases when people were base-jumping, and the force from the water was so strong when they hit the water, it ripped their rectum. Well, as pleasant as this conversation is, that's all I know.

I assume you're basing it on Guts by Chuch Palahunik. Although you could prolapse a short portion of your rectum through your anus (I've seen it and its gross) considering that the intestine connects to the stomach which connects to the oesophagus which connects to your mouth you wouldn't be able to push them all the way out as described in the story.
