I have a cold and I'm coughing quite often; how do I get rid of this symptom or at least mask it, ASAP? I know I can drink water to keep the cough down, but I don't want to do that every five minutes.

to get rid of a cough caused by a cold you can use a vaporizer to steam up the room. you can also take a shower and boil water. you really need to get all the flem out of your body by coughing. and that is all a cough is. coughs are good and they protect you from getting sick.

Try at least 1 quart of pineapple juice with 1/3 garlic warm water a day along with cold medicine and a HEPA air cleaner next to the nose.

Pineapple has bromelain same as most cough syrup used, which helps suppress coughs and loosens the mucus that often accompanies colds. The difference is it tastes better and doesnt contain alcohol, sugar; etc. and can drink as much as you like. The cough cannot disappear right away, but it gradually reduce in much shorter time.

Its important when selecting a cough med, to know what results you should really be going for. If you have a lot of mucosal noise (sounds like mucous in the lungs) when you cough, then you will want to purchase an expectorant and this will help you bring up the stuff thats in your lungs, that your body is TRYING so desperately to get up. A mucolytic will help liquify these secretions so that they come up easier and each cough is more productive. If you just have a dry, clear cough, you'll want to go with and anti-tussive. Hope this helps you out.

Get Robitussin with Expectorant. It stops you from coughing all the time, but it doesn't stop the cough completely. You only cough to get rid of mucus.... Don't take pure cough suppressing medicine, because it only makes your cough linger longer. A cough caused by a cold normally lasts up to 10 days.

I never used any medications with my daughter. When she has a cold I give her a vapor bath (has to be at least 3 months old which your son is), then I would cover her chest and back with vicks baby rub and I would use a humidifier near her head. I recently bought a Vicks Warm steam humidifier with Vicks vapor for a little over 20 dollars and we love it! IN the past I used a normal humidifier and it worked pretty well. Good luck it should only last a couple of days and things will get back to normal. If you do this in the evening you should get a full nights rest though!

Buckley's is the best OTC cough medicine I ever used. If you can get cough syrup with codeine it'll definitely work. In the US you'll need a prescription for it.
