i have a durabrand PVS1966 portable dvd player but when i try to play a disc, i can hear the sound of the movie but nothing shows up on the screen. It is only backlit. Should i just sell it on ebay or try to fix it somehow? What would i do to fix it? Thank you for the help!

There is probably a ribbon cable that goes between the display and the base of the unit that sends the picture to the display. Sometimes this cable can become unseated from their connectors and cause intermittant or complete loss of picture. The connector is plastic and is locking/unlocking by pushing in/pulling out on the two sides of it. Taking the ribbon cable out and putting it back in making sure it's in all the way locked in with the connectors could fix the problem but if you're not familiar with working on electronics I'm not sure you should attempt it. There are many fine wires in devices like this which could be very easily broken and could just make things worse. You could still probably get $20 out of it selling it on eBay as-is.

It just means that the movie is shown on 2 screens if wanted/needed using a supplied cord. This is usualy used in vehicles, one for each kid(if there are 2 kids:) !
