Have there been documented instances of soldiers during wartime deliberately shooting their own comrades, not by accident but as an act of revenge, on the battlefield.I imagine the act would be extremely difficult to prove in court. It is not outside the bounds of possibility that a lesser ranked soldier has been so severely miffed by a superior officer that revenge was taken in the heat of a battle.Modern forensic science would make detection more likely now, but during WW2 such an act would be less easily detected. Is there a site where such deeds and the miscreants would be listed.

Fragging, as it is called is not new and fortunately not the norm.Yes it happens. It came to light in VietNam, once the moral of the soldiers was destroyed, by the Commie Sympathiser, Hippies, Peacniks, back home. Those are the ones to blame for Fragging. and now they want that honorable act to re-ignite, in Iraq, by demoralizing the Troops.

I don't know of a site but I would be very interested in the answers, as I am sure there were probably instances of this happening. Maybe even in WW1 as well since I have read several accounts where an incompetent major - drawn from the aristocracy and the 'old boys' club but with no military experience - committed his troops to stupid and dangerous manouevres. I wonder how many of these toffs were 'accidentally' taken out in order to save the lives of those serving under them.

In the Russian army there is a culture of soldiers who have served longer bullying / beating / stealing the belongings of the younger recruits. There have been cases where these recruits shot their fellow soldiers in revenge for this on the battlefield and said it was an accident.
