My grandson was taken from his father and we his grandparents without a warning. He was placed in a situation by his mother where we felt he was at risk. We contacted the CAS and they put a child protection order on him. And last week they took the baby from his mother and put him in foster care. We have had to travel several provinces over to attend court proceedings and now we find that we have to leave my son here until he can get custody, Can he get custody or should my husband and I try to get it. My son is very young, but is a good and caring father for his boy. What I need are some options to make Children's aid understand I started this to keep the baby safe and I feel he is safe when he is with us. His mother is not a good care giver and has alot of problems with many areas of life. Please give me some good advice that I can use to approach CAS and bring them around to our way of thinking quickly. I don't want to stay in another province til they sort it out. Thank you

I can offer no legal advise, but I can however tell you what happened in my sister-n-laws case.
She had 6 children and they were all taken away from her for the same reasons. \
Unfortunately, the kid all had to stay in foster care for an amount of time. It wasn't long until they were given to thier fathers.
Be patient. He must have a means of supporting his child. And he will still need his parents (you) for support. It will turn out in his favor. Be patient.

There isn't no court that will take a child from its mother . Unless you the person who is trying to get the child can prove that she is unfit. I'm talking cuts, born marks things like that, and weather the child is getting fed. Or the place where the child is living is very dirty. These are the things you would have to prove. And if you can congrats! Other then that GOOD LUCK !!!!!!!

Your son has a better claim on his son than you do, so he is the one who should go for custody.
But the CAS will want to investigate your son, to ensure the child will not be put in further danger...I also hope that whenyou started this mess, it was for justafiable Child needing protection Reasons.

Please get a lawyer, otherwise you will be run ragged try to figure out government burocracy

you should try getting custody of the child. they might not see your son as a good parent because he is young. then if you try to do it then you will probably get the child, because you have had children, you know how to take care of a child. if you do get the child push child support on the mother.

I would of thought that would of been the first place they would of tryed i mean to a family member rather than a complete stranger. By all means see if u can get custody.
