Actually, the bride can wear whatever colour she wants to. However, red is not the traditional colour in a North American wedding. I've seen many weddings with Asian brides that have completely red dresses and others where there are swatches of red throughout the dress. Colour is definitely an option in modern weddings and if the bride wants to wear red - so be it.

There is a poem,If a Bride and you wear White ,upon the day you will be alright, but if a Bride and you wear Green, upon this day you are ashamed to be seen,if a Bride and you wear Red, upon the day, you wish yourself dead, If a Bride and you wear Black, upon this day you wish yourself back.So the saying goes ,this was a folklore superstition. A lot of brides wear red in this day and age.So putting aside superstition, it really is down to personal choice.Red is a beautiful colour full of energy and power so if this is the choice ,how lovely it should be.

The reason why a bride wears white is because in the days of old white was a symbol of purity and virginity. So when a woman walked the aisle in a white dress with a blue sash, it meant she wasn't a virgin. But in todays world, I think a bride can wear any colour because hardly anyone waits till they are married anymore (to have sex, I mean).

OFCOURSE a bride can wear RED. I am from India and we gals mostly wear red color on our wedding. Infact my wedding is in less then two months and i have chosen a VERY BEUUUUUUUUUUTIFUL DESIGNER DRESS IN RED. Red is the symbol of brightness and a new relationship. Whoeva seems to be hesitating from wearing red on her wedding...just tell her to GO AHEAD AND WEAR THAT RED COLOR AND DAZZLE ON YOUR SPECIAL DAY. She'l ROCK in RED HUE. :)
