Ok.
First of: I'm very shy(I can admit it), and i'm not the Brad Pitt of the teen world.
So, I like this girl, and she kinda of knows.
About 4 months ago I told my best friend(which is one of her friends) that I was interested, so he informally(very briefly) talked to her and she basically said that she "wanted to fly solo".
We just saw each other last semester, August time, and we've never formally spoken to one another.
So, the other night we both went to a friend's party...we never spoke, but I believe she would stare at me for a brief period of time as I would walk by...
So I thought I would write her a note and ask her out soon.
Any suggestions? Any comments? Valentine's Day is coming in like 3 weeks, should I wait until then?

You shouldn't ask her to be your girlfriend right of the bat. What you should do is take is slow, ask her "Would you like to hang out sometime to get to know eachother better?". The thing is if you've never spoken to her formally how do you know that you really like her, sure she's probably cute, but do you know her likes and dislikes? What her personality is like? Etc. Get to know her first before you ask her to be your girlfriend. Take her on a date, like a dinner, somewhere intimate where you can talk. If she turns you down, at least you tried, and it's one last thing weighing on your mind.

I'm not sure. She said she wanted to go solo, but that was 4 months ago. I would say if you were to do anything then wait until valentines day and give her something nice. Not something with I love you all over it that would be weird and an over kill. Just something friendly and cute. Maybe some flowers and balloons with happy valentines day on them and then see what she does from there. If there is not a major response from that, then I would wait a little while longer and see if she comes around. I just wouldn't ask her out right now being that she said she wants to go solo and that could have been a nice way of turning you down, but only the future can tell.
Best of luck!!!

No, Next time you are in the room with her, go up and
introduce yourself. Tell her that you have noticed her
for some time, but you never had the courage to approach
her before because you didn't want to seem pushy since
your friend said she wanted to be solo. Then ask her
if she still feels the same way now. If she doesn't want
to go out with you, don't feel bad about it. It's not a
reflexion on you. Most women don't know how to pick the
best guys anyway, that's why a lot of them end up in
bad relationships and bad marriages. You sound like a good
person and it's what's inside that counts.

I know you said you were shy, but don't ask her in a note. I'm afraid you are going to have to gather up some courage and either ask her in person or call her. Try to get her phone number from your friend, then call her. You don't have to ask her out with the first phone call necessarily. Just call her and talk about school, friends . . . . or talk about that friend's party you went to. Ask her about what kind of movie she likes . . . . and then get around to asking her if she would consider going to a movie with you sometime. Or if you are still too shy to ask her, then ask her if she can go to the movies with a group of friends.
It might be sort of neat to ask her out at Valentine's day. Every girl wants to be noticed on that special day. Maybe that will be the thing that sways her. Good luck!!!

she was probably staring at you because she knows you like her and you were probably staring back. I don't think she's interested because she had all of the opportunity in the world and like she said, she wants to fly solo. Don't write her a note because it's very immature. Start saying "hey" to her in the halls, then step it up a notch. Try some small talk.

Ok.... if you're old enough to date girls, then you're gonna have to be mature enough to take the plunge. Writing notes and telling your best friend is ok in elementary school, but that's as far as it goes.
Take it from a girl. Girls like men who feel sure of themselves. If were gonna be honest here, she might be looking at you because she knows you like her. We might not like a guy, but our ego loves knowing that we are liked. Go up to her and try to speak with her a little. See what her reaction is. Do keep one thing in mind. If she does blow you off, it is nothing to be ashamed of! In live you win some, you loose some. If you don't try though, you're not going to win anything. Go for it!

i think you should just go up and casually talk to her if you see her again. i mean you guys could end up dating or just friends. and that way you could find out for sure how she feels.. dont wait until valentine's day though.

I belive that you should wait to that day. Everything's more romantic and beautiful that day, and it wil help you. Then just ask her out and like that maybe start a good realionship with her.
Good luck!!! :-)
P.S. Also you can give her a red rose. Red roses mean: True LOVE.

never ask a girl out until you know her. it will only cause problems if you end up not liking her. you could write her a note saying hi first. girls like that. but not asking her out yet. that would be moving to fast especially considering you've never really talked to her! find ways to make conversation though!! good luck!
