My boyfriend is suffering from sharp pains behind his left eye, about once a day. I looked on the net and think they may be cluster headaches but his only last a couple of seconds not minutes/hours. Is there a milder form of the condition?

I suffer from cluster headaches, this doesn't sound like the same symptoms, cluster headaches last more than a few seconds , The attacks of pain are clustered in cycles that usually last 4 to 8 weeks, and are followed by a pain-free remission in 90 percent of patients. On occasion, bouts may be as short as a few days or as long as 4 months; about 10 percent of those with established cluster tempos enter a chronic phase in which the attacks may persist for an average of 4 to 5 years . The later the onset of the episodic disorder, the greater the chance of it becoming chronic. Most patients experience one to two bouts per year; however, the interval between bouts ranges from 1 month to 2 years in 80 percent of the cases and between 6 months and 2 years in 60 percent .In rare instances it may be as long as 25 years. Eventually, the bouts cease spontaneously, but more precise data on the natural history of the disorder are not yet available.
the best remedy believe it or not is drink plenty of water and keep hydrated.

Ice pic headaches.. I suffer from cluster headaches... I researched different types of headaches when I was trying to figure out which type mine were. Wasn't ice pic headaches because mine last from 30 minutes to and hour or hour and a half. The ice pic headaches are the ones that only last about 5 seconds... Hope this helps!!!

I began suffering with migraine whilst in Bournemouth several years ago with similar pain always on using the mobile phone. They were quite restricting in head movement and rather pain full also frightening. Best to have a word with his GP and he will advise accordingly. He will be wise not to abuse the mobile if he has one though as I personally think that was the onset for me. However, each of us is different.
