If you want to know the truth? Yes, Bahai was created by a con-man named "Bahaullah" who took the Islam religion as a template, added his own things, and voila! a new religion!

In Bahaullah's defense, though, he was raised in Islam probably took the idea from Muhammad himself. Muslims are taught that Muhammad was as perfect as a human could get and that his actions should be emulated.

Well that backfired, because Muhammad was a con-man who took the Jewish and Christian religions as a template and created his own religion (Islam). So Bahaullah in reality WAS emulating the false prophet Muhammad.

No, it's not an offshoot. The guy who founded it was born Muslim, but he decided to reject Islam and make a new religion. You may find some similarities to Islam in the Bahai faith, but they cannot be considered Muslims. It's kind of like the Nation of Islam, which is also not a part of Islam.

It is an independant religion. Its founder was born in a Muslim family, however He changed the laws to adapt them to the need of our time. Rules of fasting and prayers have been modified. Furthermore Muslim clerics do not consider the Baha'is as beeing Muslims.

a) In 1925, a Sunni Muslim religious court in Egypt denied civil recognition to marriages contracted between Muslim women and Bahá'í men, insisting that "The Bahá'í Faith is a new religion, entirely independent" and that "no Bahá'í, therefore, can be regarded a Muslim"

b) Among the disturbing factors that have intensified the difficulties of the present situation is the extraordinary judgment recently passed by the Supreme Religious Court of Egypt, declaring the Bahá'ís of that land adherents of a Faith heretical in character, and at variance with the accepted doctrines of Islam, and hence utterly outside the sphere of its jurisdiction.

In the same way that Christianity is an offshoot of Judaism. The Founder, Baha'u'llah, was raised Muslim, just as the Founder of Christianity, Jesus, was raised as a Jew. Like Christianity, it is not a sect of another religion, but an independent religion.

Hope this helps!

The Baha'i Faith bring the Message of Universalism. A beautiful Message. We're all brothers and sisters and the Universe is our home.

The Baha'i Faith was the Fifth Seal of the book sealed with Seven Seals that only the Seventh Angel could open.

However, as with all religions they only have part of the whole truth. It is only when all Messages are understood and put together that the Path back to God will be realized.
