I'm british and am in love with an American (we both love each other very much). we met when i was on holiday and we decided to keep in contact from then onwards. It's been one year now and I cant stand being so far away from my love. I understand that it's almost impossible getting into america as a permanent resident nowadays... Im going there this summer so that we both can meet each other and I just dont know what to do. I mean, I want us to be together forever and I dont think I will ever want to come back here........(i know, thats illegal) and I am a bit scared as to what might happen. I just feel like theres no hope as we both love each other very much but we dont want to marry just yet. I just wish there was a way i could go there and live there forever legally. I've been feeling so down for months because of this & had this dumb idea enter my mind yesterday. i thought if i want 2 go there...Y dont i just pack my bags & go but i guess being in love makes u think stupid thought

why do you have to do all the work of moving and such? in my opinion, if s/he loves you back with the same amount of feelings, s/he should be able to sit down and talk this across-the-ocean situation you're both facing. and my suggestion is, in the discussion, work out a system. try visiting each other every three months or so. there's nothing that couldn't be resolved in this world, but the initiative should come from both of you so any decision coming out will be an equality-driven one.

good luck!
