A good place to start is working in juvenile hall so you know the ins and outs. You also have a reference for the day to day activity. Some juveniles prefer to be at the hall than at home. It is a good profesion overall just don't expect to turn kids around you may get to a couple out of a hundred.

I try to treat the juveniles that come into my office like I would expect my children to be treated if there were in the system. That means that when the kids do the right thing, I praise them. When they don't follow the rules and screw up, I treat the juveniles accordingly.

A friend of mine is one and they put up with a lot of garbage from young punks who think that they know everything but she likes it.
