I don't know what happened. He was just running around playing...and all of the sudden he was like spasming,...he didnt whine or bark..no drool or anything....he was not tender to the touch. he looked like his back was out of place...but i felt all the way down his spine, and back legs, nothing felt odd. it lasted for about 2 minutes. he just kept bending his back legs and wobbling. After trying to see if something was broken or dislocated i just held him for a minute and when i put him back down, to go get my keys to take him to the vet he was back to normal...do you think it was a seizure...and what causes these and what should I do?

It does sound like a seizure to me. I have worked with children and adults that have had seizures and I have found when the seizure is over you can hold them and it calms them to a point that in a few minutes they are back to normal. I would recommend taking your pet to the vet let him run some blood work and if he is epelectic it will show up. It may be able to be controlled with either diet, or meds. If your pet needs meds and you have a co-pay insurance have the vet write you a prescription and put your name on it and it will save you a ton of money,, just have it filled at your pharmacy. Good luck with your pet,,,,,,,hope everything goes Great.!!

Hi there, I had a boxer who had a stroke and went through some of your descriptions, his eyes were blank after it ended and he was walking around in small circles swaying.
Please put those car keys into the ignition and take your pet now. I did, My Boxer had to be put down as he was old and it would be cruel to let him live after suffering brain damage from the stroke.
Your dog may have not even had a stroke but you should take him to the vet ASAP! This could lead to something more serious that is out of your control. See a vet and get him checked up on.
Thank You For Being Such a Great Pet Owner!!

My childhood dog did this all the time. Everytime he would do it my dad would rush him to the vet only to have it over with before he got there. Come to find out he was poisoned as a puupy. He only did this when he would get worked up and playing hard (running around, playin catch ,tug of war). There was nothing that could be done for him but they recomened that he not get worked up and to keep him from running alot. He is still with us to this day and that was 20 yrs ago so take to the vet and Im sure everything will be fine!!! GOOD LUCK!!

I know it sounds crazy, but I have a small dog (shi Tzu) and he did something similar to that. I took him to the vet, and he said that some small (breed) dogs can be hypoglycemic. He told me that the next time it happened, give him some water with honey. May not be your case though. The vet did say that it was a good call to bring him in, even though it was over quickly, because it could have been something else. I was lucky that it wasnt. He said strokes and seizures are very dangerous to dogs.

Sounds like a seizure to me. My former dog had one. It was scary. Drool and everything. The vet said to let it pass, and there's no reason for it, it can just happen. Keep them comfortable.
She was fine for many more years with no seizures. It's apparently a random thing that can happen in dogs.

It could have been a seizure,a pinched nerve , pulled muscle,a heart episode.....let the vet have a look asap.
