Open the Device Manager.
Double-click IDE ATA/ATAPI Controllers to display the list of controllers and channels.
Right-click the icon for the channel to which your CD/DVD drive is connected, select Properties, and then click the Advanced Settings tab.

For Windows XP:

Right-click My Computer.
Go to Properties.
Click on Hardware Tab.
There will be a button in there that says Device Manager.

Your situation is a bit confusing. Do you have the original game disc in the CD/DVD drive?

to get to the device manager:
find a my computer icon (not shortcut) and right click it-->properties-->hardware tab-->device manager button near the top
