Because men, more often than not, are insecure, and are in constant need of exerting dominance over, or ownership of women.
It's how they are by nature.
Women don't feel as though they have as much to prove, so 'friend' will suffice.

I know this is going to sound weird coming from a guy. But to most men, there trying to show off that particular woman, as if she's a possession. But I'm not like most of those other guys. When I introduce someone to the person I'm dating, I call her a young lady, but not in a boastful way, just as a fact. I think those men that introduce their "girl" in a possessional kind of way, seem to just be trying to sound better than everybody else at that point. Hope that helps:)

For me because most guys I introduce are no more than friends. Never have introduced a boyfriend to anyone before. But if I had I would say boyfriend not just friend. I have no problem saying that if that is what we are.

Because women don't assume any relationship until it's real for them; thus, they will introduce male friends as just that.
My opnion as to why men introduce women as their girl friends - perhaps it helps boost their ego? I don't know if all men do that. Smile.

Well, sometimes, women just aren't sure where they stand with the guy. It could be a little ackward to ask just before introducing him to friends if there is more than just dating going on at that point.

i do no longer think interior the parable of masc or fem factors of fellows. i think of fellows are born with an identical ability for emotions and a great form of fellows purely succumb to the "ills of society" i.e. forcing men to magnify a great, pseudo-macho image.
