Colorectal cancer is like any other cancer. It requires aggressive treatment and surgery to cut out part of the colon (digestive tract/intestine). In many cases it has proved to be fatal. Sometimes chemo can stop the growth; cancer grows and spreads rapidly. They cut out a large portion of the intestine and connect your stomach to your bowels so that you really can't be too far from a bathroom, or resort to wearing adult diapers. They typically put you on an intraveneous lliquid diet and hospice care (6 months or less to live). You lose weight and it is painful for your family to watch you slowly shrivel up and die. A steady dose of morphene is added and eventually you build up an intolerance, and take so much morphene you slip into a coma and pass away peacefully. My grandfather and Uncle both passed in this manner, and my father is right now.

a simple answer is it is a tumor in the colon. If you think you have it, have a colonoscopy which is a full examination of the colon. The doctor will give you a full report. If they catch this cancer early they can treat it. sorry i don't know 5 year survival rates.
